Slapton is a rural parish with three distinct settlements, namely Slapton, Horton and Grove. It is situated in the Vale of Aylesbury, one of three administrative districts in Buckinghamshire. It lies between the Grand Union Canal and the border with the county of Bedfordshire. The nearest town, Leighton Buzzard, is several miles to the North. The name Slapton, Anglo Saxon in origin, means ‘Farm by a Slippery Place’. The number of farms in the Parish and quantity of clay testifies to this!

A Message from Slapton Parish Council
Thank you to our clerk, councillors and members of the public who met today to deliver an urgent resolution to delegate certain functions to the clerk. This means we can suspend ordinary meetings for the next 3 months. We are waiting for legislation to determine how we manage annual meetings, our audit process and casual vacancies. It was also an opportunity to discuss with the members of the public how the Slapton Support Group can coordinate activities with the many willing volunteers. We can look forward to further details on this soon. Do keep a watch on this website as we will be updating it as future information becomes available.
Kind regards Mel Woof
Chairman - Slapton PC
